I am now to acktiowledge thè arrivai of my daughter in perfect health, and to return you many thanks, as well as your amiable family, for thè kind attention paid to her, during her abode with you. Mrs. IV... unites with me in compliments to Mrs. Da Ponte and family, with many thanks for her friendly attention to our daughter, who is an amiable and good girl in every respect, except that of being a little too quick, which I think she will soon lay aside. IV. Doctor Pascalis, an anonymous persoti wrote severall etters to my pupils in this city, iti which I atn accused of thè most atrocious crimes and, among others, of having been thè cause of thè death of a young lady, by name Miss Williams, who was with my family about a year to finish her education, and who is now mother of five children in St. Croix. The writer having made use of your respectable name to corroborate his slander, by saying that you was called in when there was no more hope of recovery, that you pronounced her illness occasioned by thè bad treatment etc., that your opinion remains stili thè sanie, and that you do not hesitate to declare it whenever questíoned upon thè subject; I request frotti you, my dear Sir, to say at thè bottom of this note all that you know about this strange business, and if you can give me any hint, by which I may be ab le to bave some new proofs to punish thè already suspected villain, you will not only oblige me and my calumniated family, but also thè most respectable ladies and gentlemen of NezvYork, interested not less than myself in this affair.
